So Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Pearl Jam are creating an anti-war soundtrack to accompany an anti-war movie. It contains over 30 songs, which is about 30 too many. If there is one thing I learned from Fergie, whose "my Humps" taught me to open my mind - especially about humps- it's that protest songs need to be punchy. They need not drag on. Frankly, this album sounds like a quagmire, one I don't want to get bogged down in. If I wasn't busy with my charity work with runaways, I would write a protest song to protest these protest songs.
But, anyway, isn't it a little late to record anti-war songs about Iraq? That's like waiting until the 4th-quarter of the Super Bowl to bet against the Giants. With thanks to General Petraeus, the war has turned around.
Man, it's got to hurt to be anti-war - when it looks like the other side is winning. The other side, being, US.
Sure, we're going to be there for a while. But no new president - not even Obama- is going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - no matter how many times you rhyme scourge with George. Or make a dirty pun on Bush.
Need more proof these musicians are on the wrong side of history? Cornel West recorded a track for the record and there's never been an American enemy he hasn't loved. Even worse, he's a terrible rapper.
And if you disagree with me, then you sir, are worse than Hitler.
