THE CONSTITUTION PROTECTS YOU FROM BEING INSULTED BY A BITTER OLD CRANK ON THE RADIO
Don Imus is facing his first lawsuit from a player on the Rutgers Women's Basketball team for derogatory comments that cost him his job as a radio host in April...

Kia Vaughn, star center for the Rutgers Women's Basketball team, has filed a lawsuit against Imus for libel, slander and defamation -- the first civil suit to be filed against the former radio host. Vaughn is asking for monetary damages of an unspecified amount.

"This is a lawsuit in order to restore the good name and reputation of my client, Kia Vaughn," said her attorney, Richard Ancowitz...

"Don Imus referred to my client as an unchaste woman. That was and is a lie..."

Earlier today, The Associated Press reported that Imus had reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with former employer CBS over his firing... That settlement, said Ancowitz, rewards Imus while leaving little justice for the women of the Rutgers basketball team.

"He's come out smelling like quite the rose. But what about these young women? How does Imus' victory affect their self-esteem? Where do they go to get their reputations back?"
ABC News digg this
How about they get their self-esteem back by realizing Don Imus is a crusty old idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about, and getting on with their lives? Do these young ladies really walk around every day surrounded by Imus fans pointing at them and yelling "nappy-headed ho"? Not to mention that her good name couldn't very well be at risk if nobody even knew her name until she filed this lawsuit. Imus never said her name, and it's not like anybody ever interviewed her about winning a basketball tournament. And the "I'm not an unchaste woman" business... what is this, 1587?

Oh wait, I'm acting like she thinks she has a legitimate grievance. How silly. Good luck getting your big payday, you chaste lil' angel you. I'd suggest doing us all a favor and buying yourself a makeover with it, but that might damage your self-esteem.

P.S. From last April 13: "Rutgers Coach Says Imus' Apology Accepted." Whoops!
