In the latest Playboy, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann says Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda.
He says, "Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda -- worse for our society. It's as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was."
What, no comparisons to Hitler? I'm hurt.
Look, whether you're a lib or a con, you should be creeped out by what he said. It's not because he took a dig at Fox, it's because in doing so he suggested that the horrific crimes committed by Al Qaeda and the Klan are comparable to the action of a media outlet whose success he envies. What a weenie. It's insulting on every level to those whose lives have been affected by real tragedy.
But can you blame him? Standing up to Al Qaeda is tough. Making decisions about how to conduct the war on terror is tough. Beating up on Fox News? Easy.
Fox News won't blow up his city. We won't sue him. We won't even tee-pee his hot tub. Instead, we'll do what Americans usually do -- shrug.
Who knows what went wrong in Olbermann's life to cause him to say that. But whatever it is, a guy who can say that people not in lockstep with his own views are worse than Al Qaeda... Well, that person needs to spend time in my basement. A group that has killed thousands around the globe, is trying to get hold of a dirty bomb, and is led by a homicidal goat... That group is far worse than anything on television. Including Sunset Tan.
Finally, how come neither Olbermann or the left has any response to terror? Guess that question is part of what makes Fox "worse than Al Qaeda." But hey, I can deal with that. And that's my Gut feeling.
